Provider Services Data Analyst – Health Insurance

Job Summary
The Provider Services Data Analyst supports the Provider Services department by analyzing, maintaining, and reporting healthcare provider data while ensuring full compliance with HIPAA and applicable US healthcare regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and strict adherence to data privacy and security standards when handling Protected Health Information (PHI).
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze provider-related data using Microsoft Excel (tables, formulas, pivot tables, and spreadsheets) to support operational and compliance reporting.
- Prepare accurate reports related to provider enrollment, credentialing, claims support, and network performance.
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across multiple systems.
Documentation & Communication
- Create and maintain Word documents including provider forms, templates, official letters, and internal documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Develop PowerPoint presentations for internal meetings, provider updates, audits, and operational reviews.
- Ensure all documentation follows standardized formatting and compliance guidelines.
Database & Technical Support
- Utilize SQL (preferred) to query, extract, and analyze data from internal databases to support provider services operations.
- Assist with data reconciliation, trend analysis, and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve data discrepancies.
Compliance & Data Security (HIPAA-Focused)
- Handle all Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Follow minimum necessary standards when accessing or sharing sensitive healthcare data.
- Adhere to company policies regarding data privacy, cybersecurity, and information security.
- Report any suspected data breaches or compliance concerns immediately to management.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst, Provider Services Analyst, or similar role in health insurance or healthcare.
- Strong proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, tables, spreadsheets)
- Microsoft Word (forms, templates, letters)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (presentations and meeting slide decks)
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently in a remote/virtual environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- SQL experience for data querying and reporting (preferred but not required).
- Prior experience working with US health insurance providers, payers, or healthcare organizations.
- Familiarity with provider enrollment, credentialing, or provider network operations.
- Prior exposure to HIPAA compliance or healthcare data privacy standards.
